Types of Certification

Skill Testing

There are several ways to take the skills or hands-on portion of the test:

1.  Contact your local distributor to take the test at their location.
2.  You can take the test in conjunction with an NWFA Intermediate or above technical school.
3.  You can take the test in conjunction with a Manufacturer school with their permission
4.  You can request to take the test at NWFA Headquarters
5.  You may request to have a grader come on site to test on your jobsite.

For further information, cost and application for the Skills/hands-on test portion, please contact NWFA Certified Professionals, Inc. If you request Certification in both Installation and Sand & Finish, you only need to take and pass the online written exam one time.

Sales Counselor Certification

The Certified Sales Counselor Program is designed to recognize knowledge and expertise in the sale of flooring products. The Sales Counselor Certification requires a minimum of three years in flooring sales and successful completion of the Sales Counselor Written Test.
NWFACP also offers a one-day Sales Counselor Seminar covering information needed to be a successful and profitable wood flooring sales counselor.

Inspector Certification

The NWFACP’s Inspector Certification program recognizes competence and understanding in the inspection of wood flooring. The inspection certification process includes a series of five written examinations. Once all five examinations are completed successfully, provisional certification will be awarded. During this provisional period, the candidate will be required to complete five actual inspection reports and submit them to NWFACP for review. All five reports must be submitted with a 12 month period after notification of provisional certified wood flooring inspector status. After this requirement has been fulfilled, full certification status will be awarded.

NWFACP offers an Inspector School. The school is five days and covers all aspects of inspection procedures. The CWFI Test is optional at the end of the school.
